tAfter alot of talking, FH and I have decided we want to go somewhere for our honeymoon we wouldn't normally have the chance to go with our lil guy. So are thinking either Africa, or a 14 day tour of Europe (Paris, England etc). However we have no idea how much money to plan for. Of course we know airfares, but is it worth booking in for a tour, or just doing our own thing and making our way around. We want to do alot of the typical touristy spots.

Any help??

When I went to Europe I went with a tour group as it worked out cheaper.
If you work out the costs of car hire and accommodation and entry into some of the touristy places, back then it worked out a lot more to do it yourself then to go on the tour; some tours even include some meals and little extras.

I did europe last year and only did one tour guided activity which was a trip to lochness in scotland. I personally wouldnt do a guided tour again, cept maybe a walking tour. I felt it was rushed and couldn't have time to look around like I did on the rest of the trip.

Sure they take you to all the popular tourist scenes but you can do that yourself. If you look online you can get cheaper stuff as well.

You can get nice/decent rooms for about 40euro per person per night. I think between accomodation and flights/trains between it was about $2000 for myself and my mum. We stay at my sisters in London though and saved money!

definately log on to tripadvisor.com world of information that will definately help with your travels!

We are going again this year and I'm self booking everything with maybe the odd walking tour. As long as you know what you want to do and plan it out I really dont think a tour guide is necessary.
